THE SUBWAYS CONFIRM THE ROCKHOUSE

Welwyn Garden City based trio The Subways have quickly established themselves as one of Britain's most undeniably “Ass kicking – will someone please turn that mutha up” bands. Live they will blow your brains clear through the back of your skull and leave your body flopping around like a helpless rag doll being shaken by a very petulant child who’s forgotten to take their Ritalin.

Since their immaculate conception in a Suburban English town in the hot summer of 2002 they have blazed a trail around the UK. From 80 people packed in a room and the sound systems a bit worse for wear to 5000 plus capacity venues. Around this point it seemed sensible to release the bands songs on an easy to store, wipe clean format and 500,000 Cds were hastily produced and sold by the bucket load by the bands fine record company. If you don’t have “Young For Eternity” then quite simply, you’re mad/ wrong and should take immediate steps to improve your life and those of your friends and family.

2 years of craziness followed! On came the U, S and A/ Japan/ Aus/ Germany and the rest of Europe. Festivals/ tours/ TV appearances/ Videos/ Awards/ Autographs/ Interviews/ Photo shoots… the mighty carousel of musical dreams was spinning and we all held on tight. Faster and faster…perhaps too fast we span and all our hearts stopped when Billy’s horse stumbled in April and finally fell in Sept 06.

In a January 07 operation Billy had Vocal nodes removed. March 07 and Billy’s voice was stronger than ever. So the band packed their sunglasses and headed to Los Angeles to hook up with legendary producer Butch Vig. Having seen the band gig at the LA Troubadour Butch gatecrashed the tour bus to meet the band. The band love some the records Butch has worked on (Nirvana's Nevermind, Sonic Youth's Gish, Garbage's - Garbage amongst many others) making him an obvious and wonderful choice to record their second album. They recorded 16 tracks together over 7 weeks at Conway Studios LA and the result is the stunning follow up album 'All Or Nothing'. Described by the NME as 'The Rock Album Of The Year'. The album was released on June 30th 08, reaching number 17 in the UK charts. 2008 saw a much-loved return to the road with 2 UK tours/ 1 US tour/ 2 trips to Japan/ a German itunes show and an enormous summer of festivals. This is a great chance to see the band in an intimate venue before they hit the 2009 Festival season.
