HOT CLUB DE PARIS :: CRASH OF RHINOS :: ONCE THERE WERE DINOSAURS

Hot Club de Paris mark their eagerly-awaited return in 2010 with a brand-new 6 song EP entitled “With Days Like This As Cheap As ChewingGum, Why Would Anyone Want To Work?” (A phrase generously loaned by acclaimed British poet Matthew Welton). Still operating with their usual punk-rock ethic and still proudly flying the flag for British DIY.

Hot Club are now self-producing and recording themselves in their Liverpool rehearsal space. Moshi Moshi will be taking care of the release, which is available on both download and a super-limited hand-numbered 10” vinyl.

Paul, Matthew and Alasdair first entered our musical consciousness with their debut album ‘Drop It ‘til It Pops’ in October 2006. This was followed by ‘Live at Dead Lake’ in June 2008. Their skewiff art-punk début was bursting with a feverish energy and, combined with near constant touring, won them a healthy fan base. This gruelling schedule led straight up to recording their second album with Chicago producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine, Ugly Cassanova, Sea and Cake, Chin Up Chin Up). The results were equally as engaging as their début efforts and steered the band’s art-punk sound into a calmer, more melancholic direction, garnering further critical acclaim.

They now have two 6 song EPs to release through Moshi Moshi. The first one dropped in early February. ‘With Days Like This…’ combines both fun and sadness with their usual unmistakeable British brand of eccentricity. The second EP (“The Rise and Inevitable Fall of the High School

Suicide Cluster Band”) should see the light of day sometime around the early summer in advance of what the band hopes to be a super-busy festival season. And let’s not forget just how special the Hot Club live experience is; bursts of time signature-laden art punk and banter that puts even the most seasoned heckler in their place. You can catch them at The Venue in Derby on Thursday 1st July 2010. Tickets on sale now. Support from Crash Of Rhinos and Once There Were Dinosaurs.

Once There Were Dinosaurs
There aren't any dinosaurs anymore as sad as it maybe. But one day perhaps there won't be humans. One day we won't be here. Maybe one day there will even be a musical band of robots  called "Once There Were Humans" to lament upon the extinction of us simple creatures. Until then, we are Once There Were Dinosaurs, a group of bipedal music obsessed primates. Our simple desire is to make the most of our short time on the earth by creating sounds that we  enjoy, and playing songs full of intricate layers of guitar work and vocal melodies to sing along to. Our debut EP has just recently been recorded at Dub:Rek and is to be released soon. Influences: American Football, Death Cab For Cutie, My Bloody Valentine, Mineral, Sonic Youth, Idlewild, Owen, Explosions In The Sky, Circa Survive, Cap'n Jazz, Saves The Day, The Weakerthans,  Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones and Alan Partridge. Sounds Like: 'Head turning shoe-gazer pop, just be careful they don't cause a Dinosaur pile-up' - Children For Breakfast. “Intricate guitar lines, lots of off-mic shout-singing and some very clever and cute melodies. A band that enthrals and delights.” - Rip It Up!
