Gig Guide: Fri 5th Mar
Fri 5th Mar 20:00 CLUB NME NOTTINGHAM :: SKETCHES :: HEROES OF SWITZERLAND
Over the past eighteen months Sketches have been touring extensively in the UK, increasing their fanbase whilst developing commercial recognition including local and national radio support from the likes of BBC6 and XFM London. The band have played at Austria's 'Snowbombing Festival', reached the finals of a competition with the opportunity to play at both Leeds and Reading festival, and were awarded a support slot with The Datsuns at the Camden Barfly by making the top ten in the nationwide 'Red Stripe Awards'. The debut single Slow Start‚ is produced by former Shed Seven member Fraser Smith who has produced music by many successful bands such as Winterkids and Little Man Tate.
In the course of Heroes Of Switzerland, they have been held at gunpoint, lost a drummer to a stroke hours before our first show and frequently survive days at work on minutes of sleep after gigs in some of the shittiest parts of the country. Dues have been paid. It's not prog, shoegaze or some conceptual rubbish from a bunch of art college students from Brighton, just because some songs have (tasteful) solos. These are songs you'll remember, songs with enough depth that you’ll discover something else to love with every listen. Passion and meaning without pomposity. Stadium filling sounds to transport you.
