Gig Guide: Fri 6th Nov

Fri 6th Nov 20:00 TONE CLUB :: ZADKIEL :: THE NHS :: THE SOUVENIRS :: I ONLY DATE MODELS

Zadkiel are currently a three piece Alternative Rock/Indie band from Nottingham. They reformed early in 2007 after several different incarnations, They have produced 2 stunning Eps - Inverted Heaven and The Ethereal Fear, Fronted by singer songwriter Dan Heathcote, Zadkiel have been described as Nirvana meets Jeff Buckley. Hauntingly beautiful vocals and dystopian harmonies. Darkly euphoric, apocalyptic, cryptic and sensual. Blissed out alternative rock that mines the weird territory of H.R Giger and harnesses the vivid power of William Blake's spiritual symbolism.

Since forming, The NHS (formally The 721's) have received fantastic live and recording reviews from The BBC, Drownedinsound.com, Channel 4 'planet sound' and numerous fanzines. The group have toured with (amongst others) Editors, Athlete, Delays, Elliot Minor and played on the Jim Beam tour with ‘Little Man Tate’. They have played accross Europe in Sweden and Denmark on the Spring Wonderland Festival tour, and in October 2006 they played a headline show at Nottingham’s Rock City where the band pledged all ticket sales to Oxjam, raising over £1000 for some of the worlds poorest countries.

Derby indie band The Souvenirs released their debut single, ‘The 21st Century’ back in July at a packed Rockhouse. All 500 copies of the band’s previous, independently-released E.P sold out completely, and with prominent support slots with The Pigeon Detectives, The Rakes and The Rumble Strips, and an appearance on Steve Lamaqc’s national radio show, they soon came to the attention of London based record label, The Animal Farm.

Recorded in April, and produced by The Animal Farm, The 21st Century has been a popular song in their set for some time. The group recently filmed an accompanying promotional video, which is set to be screened by the BBC at all the major festivals this summer, as well as on the city centre big screens of Nottingham and Derby. On the night of the launch itself, a pre-recorded band interview and first airplay will be taking place on BBC Radio Derby, and will be conducted by DJ and Souvenirs champion, Dean Jackson. The single is available on iTunes, and the band is hoping to secure enough downloads to enter the charts. To hear the track, watch the video and download a copy, visit their myspace site.

I Only Date Models create epic soundscapes. Bound together by a rich tapestry based on music and delusions of grandeur, these 4 young stallions communicate a level of visual breakcore previously unheard of.
