Fri 23rd Oct 20:00 NINE BLACK ALPS :: SUCIOPERRO :: MAX RAPTOR
Nine Black Alps are set to release third studio album ‘Locked Out From The Inside’ on October 5th. The Manchester-based four-piece are also pleased to announce that anyone buying a ticket for their upcoming UK tour will also receive a special bonus - a free copy of the digital album.
A no-nonsense sonic assault with huge crunching riffs and powerful lyrics, ‘Locked Out From The Inside’ sees the four-piece unleash the punk-rock roar they’ve always hinted at. Opening with ‘Vampire In The Sun’, a brooding rock seethe, it’s a record of fuzz bass throbs and vicious, ‘In Utero’-esque riffarama. ‘Salt Water’ pulsates with high tempo guitars and an anarchic, anthemic chorus, ‘Every Photograph Steals Your Soul’ is a hook-laden distorto-rock stomp and the impeccably elegant ‘Bay Of Angels’ suggests there’s a Bond theme in them yet. Produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers), the full physical album will be released on October 5th, including artwork designed by the band.
Since forming in 2003, Nine Black Alps have developed a reputation as one of the country’s loudest and melodic rock bands. Their loud and aggressive yet melodic music that echoes the sounds of American alternative rock bands such as Nirvana, Pixies and Dinosaur Jr and ‘Locked Out From The Inside’ sees them capture the riotous thrill of their live shows on record. The band are offering a unique opportunity to fans buying a ticket of any of the tour dates below – every tour ticket purchased will come with a free digital copy of the album. The album will be sent electronically following ticket purchase – a unique opportunity for fans to hear the full album well ahead of the release date. The first release from the album was a new track called 'Buy Nothing', which within hours of its release on NME.com was downloaded more than any other track the NME have ever featured.
Following this success, Nine Black Alps are currently on tour in the UK to promote the new single and the forthcoming new album.
Sucioperro are a three piece from Ayr in Scotland, who play spiralling off kilter alt-rock. They are indeed alt-rock but they go beyond this as a band. They’ve cited their influences as RATM, Crowded House, Pearl Jam, Tool and Jimmy Eat World and “anything vibed/energetic/real”. This mix of musical influences all comes out in their live show, which is something that you simply cannot miss. It’s heavy, kids sweat, people sing, bodies sway but there’s something else as well underneath their “muscular, riff based instrumental rock” as Dragon describes. Their lyrics breathe emotion, their riffs are “muscular” but their songs are teaming with melody and beauty. It’s not only just their show that you immediately get excited about but it’s the feeling that Sucioperro are one of those bands who kick life into rock and inject it with some passion and originality.
Max Raptor are a 4 piece rock/ punk, whip-crack of a band with agitated vocals and fast guitars. Like their music they’re tethered but frenzied, It’s high energy, well thought out and most importantly, believable. Already they have massive support from Kerrang! Radio, Juice FM, The Fly and radio stations and venues all over the U.K. After forming in 2007 they have toured the Country and picked up loyal legions of Raptor followers from the four corners of the U.K playing Club NME, HMV showcases with the likes of Cage the Elephant, Oceansize, Mystery Jets, Hot Club de Paris, Frank Turner, Captain, Black Sabbath’s Toni Iommi and Kerrang! Radio.
This Junes ‘GREAT AND THE GOOD’ tour saw Max Raptor supporting Billy Talent, The Zutons and Calvin Harris. . . JB, Tom, Wil and Matt are currently working with producer and engineer Sam Bell. Sam has worked with some of the biggest artists of this young Century; Bloc Party, Snow Patrol, Editors, Weezer, R.E.M and U2 and has seen the potential that Max Raptor have in their raw, original sound. Rebel Soul Collective have sculpted their sound drawing energy from bands like Primal Scream, Late of the Pier, the Rapture, Kasabian, TV on the Radio and the Go! Team. And in contrast to the lyrical banality of many contemporary artists, they pride themselves in writing honest and unflinching songs drawn from personal experiences. This, coupled with the sound they have developed, makes for an exciting live sound with plenty of adrenaline that also translates to their recordings. The current sound of the band would be best described as a mixture of electronic dance and swaggering rock and roll that maintains the tension between these genres. Their sound is varied yet cohesive, complex yet focused. Driven by different influences they all tap into.
Over the past eighteen months Sketches have been touring extensively in the UK, increasing their fanbase whilst developing commercial recognition including local and national radio support from the likes of BBC6 and XFM London. The band have played at Austria's 'Snowbombing Festival', reached the finals of a competition with the opportunity to play at both Leeds and Reading festival, and were awarded a support slot with The Datsuns at the Camden Barfly by making the top ten in the nationwide 'Red Stripe Awards'. The debut single Slow Start‚ is produced by former Shed Seven member Fraser Smith who has produced music by many successful bands such as Winterkids and Little Man Tate.
Mellow Rebellion kicked off in 2006. Since then they have perfected the line up and gigged extensively across the midlands, getting approval as they stormed through playing their extremely well polished wall of sound. With a regional Battle of the Bands winners tag on their back things seem promising for the band, with hopes to tour the UK in the next coming year. The arrival of Mellow Rebellion's debut e.p, (Mastermind) has proved popular. Two of the tracks were used on a surfing dvd named Most Valuable Players 2, which was given away free with the August issue of the top selling mag 'Wavelength'.
South African born Brynley had a colourful childhood spent in and around South Africa and the UK and gathered an extremely eclectic taste in music from a young age. His early influences include Sixto Rodriguez, Jimi Hendrix and many of the soul & Rock n Roll artists of the 50's and 60's. His distinctive voice is often compared to the soulful, breathiness of Ray La Montage, with his melodic, lyrically driven, passionate style harder to put a finger on. His song writing is emotionally invested and soul exposing, and is designed to not only to linger in your head afterwards, but make you think. Since being a child, music is his single passion and anchor in life.
