The Hot Melts look set to do bring a fresh palette of influences to British music in the New Year. Within 18 months, legendary punk label Epitaph had wooed them into a worldwide deal under their Wonderland Records imprint. Wonderland are presently ratcheting-up operations, poised to seek out and nurture more UK talent in The Hot Melts' wake. For now, though, this is Epitaph's first-ever worldwide venture with a UK band “The band's signature collision of pathos and wit is perhaps best expressed in the track '24'.
Patchwork Grace are a glamorous explosion of early Manic Street Preachers’ aggression and urgency blended with the quirkiness of alt rock luminaries such as The Horrors, The Hives and The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. But don’t be fooled, the band have wide ranging influences from Nirvana to The New York Dolls; The Ramones to Kate Bush.
Born out of Sheffield, Smugglers Run have been described as 'hardcore indie' fusing most genres of rock. Through supporting The Paddingtons, Baddies, and Pan I Am, and also selling out the O2 Academy in Sheffield, the band have generated a huge fan base in the city. With an EP in the pipeline, and regular gigs across the land, it seems that Smugglers Run are one of the hardest working and playing bands in the country. This is definitely a space to watch in the very near future.
