Gig Guide: Thu 13th Aug

Thu 13th Aug 20:00 CLUB NME :: GLINT :: OVERVIBE :: THE MAFFA KINGS :: THE ROADS

Glint was conceived by Jase Blankfort (NYC) and Mateus Tebaldi (Brazil) in New York City, quickly deemed an irresistible live act in the electronic art rock scene by Billboard Magazine. This acclaim was given when the project was in its early stages, as a duo consisting of Blankfort and drummer Tebaldi. Shortly after the release of Sound in Silence, Jase and Mateus met Alon Leventon (Tel Aviv), filling the role of keyboards and synthesizers, and bassist Dave Johnsen (Brooklyn). The group’s first show took place in Central Park in spring of 2008, followed by an immediate rise to New York’s prominent stages, and more recently, international demand. Operating independently through Rely Records, the label co-founded by Glint, the band first found the ears of the music media through Sound in Silence in 2008 produced by Blankfort & Tebaldi. Since meeting, Blankfort and Leventon have become musical conspirators and an innovative production duo. In 2009, now a complete organism, Glint is breaking new ground in the studio and stage. With a full tour of international shows and festival appearances booked for summer of 2009, experience the experimental onslaught of electronic pandemonium that is Glint.

Overvibe: was created as a studio project by vocalist/guitarist/producer Si Aljewicz in 2005. In late 2006 the project became a band with various line up changes between then and late 2008. Now in 2009 the format seems to be just right, with the emergence of new drummer Mike Hollinshead an experienced, powerful drummer who has transformed the band into a more streamlined, mature and powerful presence then ever before. Overvibe: are by far one of the UK‚s most unique alternative rock bands offering more than just straight hard rock, with inflections of electro and progressive elements ruling their sound with a keen emphasis on melodic, intelligent song writing. This is more evident than ever in their new material. The band plan to continue writing and honing their sound by playing some hotly tipped live dates in 2009.

Formed in 2007 by 4 musicians with nothing better to do The Maffa Kings went from strength to strength in 2008 before adding the final piece of the jigsaw with the vocals of Lee Moran. With influences from the likes of the Black Crowes, RATM and the Stone Roses amongst others the Maffa Kings dish out rock and roll songs as they were meant to be.

The Roads are simple, to the point and noisy to boot, its over before you've really taken it all in, which means you'll listen to it again
