Luxury Stranger signed to German label Major Digital (Ladytron, IAMX etc) in Dec 2008, Luxury Stranger is continually growing and developing while building a strong and loyal fanbase. Influenced by the sounds of post-punk / new wave from 1978 - 1984. Imagine: Bowie and Pop's Berlin years mixed with the disperate sound of Joy Division and early Cure with the melodies and power of The Chameleons - this is Luxury Stranger. Currently promoting it's debut album 'Desolation' the band is also writing material for the second album, some of which finds its way into the live set.
Over the past eighteen months Sketches have been touring extensively in the UK, increasing their fanbase whilst developing commercial recognition including local and national radio support from the likes of BBC6 and XFM London. The band have played at Austria's 'Snowbombing Festival', reached the finals of a competition with the opportunity to play at both Leeds and Reading festival, and were awarded a support slot with The Datsuns at the Camden Barfly by making the top ten in the nationwide 'Red Stripe Awards'. The debut single Slow Start‚ is produced by former Shed Seven member Fraser Smith who has produced music by many successful bands such as Winterkids and Little Man Tate.
The Getaway Boys formed mid 2008 and have grown quickly. 2009 could easily be seen as the year of THE GETAWAY BOYS bringing back proper rock and roll.
