Gig Guide: Thu 20th Nov

Thu 20th Nov 19:30 Grammatics / Esteban / The Thirteenth Reunion

Grammatics
Formed around April 2006 in a terraced house basement just outside Leeds city centre. They write songs faster than they can learn them, rarely repeat song sections without warping them into something different and attempt to utilise any instruments they can find regardless of quality or tone. Grammatics are a stylistically diverse band and like to hop through most of the genres related to indie-rock. Maybe they are stylistically incoherent. Maybe they are self-indulgent. Hopefully they will please the ears of those susceptible to that kind of nonsense.

“Ambitious musical shape shifters, Grammatics are a revalation” – NME
“Over-the-top strop pop…these kids are geniuses” – Artrocker

Esteban
Esteban call their music Desert Funk. It's what happens when you want to dance! To get up and get down to dirty funk beats, to be taken on a journey through lyrical landscapes that transport you to the hills of Santiago and the beaches of South East Asia. Enchanted by gloriously addictive pop hooks your senses are reminded of Chili's, Jamiroquai, Bee Gees, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Bob Marley and The Police. With touring firmly in their blood, Esteban have appeared alongside Gomez, Chumbawamba and the Young Knives. On the road is where you'll be captivated by vocalist Stephen's enigmatic performances and crazy dance moves and the bands sumptuous licks and sexy grooves.

The Thirteenth Reunion
Formed in Derby in 2008 over a shared love of proper alternative music by the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age and Kings of Leon, the Thirteenth Reunion offer a diverse set of catchy tunes of aggressive subtlety.
