The Park Bench / Decimals / Luxury Stranger / Euler

The Park Bench
The band started in February 2005 when two homeless youths named Dale McKillop and Lloyd Kettridge met at Derby YMCA. After writing several songs together in room 306, they decided to share them to a live audience with a few nervous performances at local “open mic” nights. They’ve now built up steam playing regular slots in the midlands and gaining quite the following. The future promises a band-run record label, a single and album release.

Decimals
How is it that three guys using synths, apples and guitars in a converted basement studio in South Wales are able to craft three minute pop gems? Collectively they have sixty years of listening to Everything to thank; they know pop-music inside out. They've Rick-rolled; they've discovered Phil Spector via the Ramones; they've had Tommy Emmanuel, the Who, New Order and Dire Straits pushed upon them on long car journeys with their dads; and overheard Roxy Music, Paula Abdul and The Police with their mums. They heard Daft Punk from the girls in school playing “Stardust” at house parties; listened to Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre because the bigger boys made them hip hop mix tapes; and listened to Oasis, Life Without Buildings and Chemical Brothers because Steve Lamaq told them to. They've always been listening, and great pop sneaks in and stays with you. They can sing countless Beatles songs back at you but can only offer up Rubber Soul from their record collections. Like the unexpected breakthrough pop of the last few years: Klaxons, Chromeo, Arctic Monkeys, Scissor Sisters, CSS, Foals, Sam Sparro & Justice (all of whom they share a stylistic affinity with) they come musically from somewhere else but having always been exposed to the pop algorithm.

Luxury Stranger is the 'brain child' of Simon York. After working within a strictly guitar based rock band, achieving success signing to Roadrunner Records and playing with  top names in music including Mansun and 10CC, Simon finally left all that behind him and began solo work as a musician, artist and actor. Experimenting with electronic instruments and layering vocal textures, creating both giant and subtle soundscapes

Euler was formed back in 2006 in a basement in the Forest Fields district of Nottingham. Their new tracks reflect the diversity of Nottingham perfectly from the up market bars of the city to the ASBO ridden estates that surround it. In usual Euler Style the gigs will no doubt be passionate events with the raw sound that has become their trade mark. Check out the Ep recorded at Confetti studio which is available on their myspace page.
