3 Ring Circus / The Arcadian Kicks / The Xcerts / The Insight

3 Ring Circus - It was always going to be about the music. 3 Ring Circus formed in 2002, when 3 friends welcomed the new boy and anew connection was formed. They began writing songs in bedrooms andrehearsing in various pubs, boxing gyms and garages. Then in 2005 came the bands first major statement, in the form of theirdebut album “Between the Lines.” Release nationally by Nova BombRecords, the album received great reviews and lead to the band beingplayed on National Radio, appearing in front of 30,000 people at theirhome town soccer stadium and a support tour with Seattle legends ThePosies. 2007 saw the release of the follow up “A Different Light” onExit Records, 10 songs which saw the band refine their sound further.

But things change…….The band has re emerged in 2008 with a new sound. More acoustic, moresoulful with tender melodies and pop hooks working their way into thelisteners subconscious until they have no choice but to hum along. Athird album will follow later in the year which will be different butwill still have that sound, the 3 ring circus sound. Fans of RyanAdams, Turin Brakes, Pearl Jam, Tom McRae, Counting Crows and Neil Young willappreciate the bands new direction and their heartfelt musings on lifeand the universe. After a number of shows in New York and Boston in 2007, the band returnto the USA this year to play several acoustic dates in LA and SanFrancisco as they take their music to an international audience.Supports with Miles Hunt (The Wonderstuff) and Mark Morriss (TheBluetones) have further enhanced the bands reputation.3 Ring Circus….2008…..Welcome to a quiet revolution'

The Arcadian Kicks
The Arcadian Kicks are two girls, three boys all eighteen summers old. They combine soaring melodic beauty with hard-edged sax, soulful guitar soundscapes and pounding tribal rhythms contained by a wall of sub bass. The group was first spotted by Jon Brookes from the Charlatans as he was judging one of the heats in the Surface Unsigned bands competition in Birmingham in the Summer of 2007. Although The Arcadian Kicks didn’t go on to win Jon saw enough potential to create a management company called One Beat Media with the sole intention of looking after them.

The Arcadian Kicks give a glimpse of the future, a time to reject apathy and crass commercialisation, ready to deal in the world’s only true resource, music. Their first demo gives a rare glimpse of song writing partnerships in exciting early stages, the band securing the services of producer James Spencer. (New Order, Electronic, Johnny Marr and The Charlatans). Their music and lyrics are influenced by the world and their place within it by The Sounds, The Subways, Cajun Dance Party, Zeppelin, Julie Driscoll and early Fleetwood Mac. A heady cocktail that works its dependable magic to such affect that every audience will submit themselves to a band that has mesmerising stage presence and unbelievable musicianship. As their following and reputation grows, so will the clamour for their attention from a media, hungry for the next musical phenomenon.

The Xcerts
THE XCERTS’ story began around the turn of the century when then 13-year-olds Murray MacLeod (vocals, guitar) and Jordan Smith (bass, vocals) met in the headmaster’s office of their school in Aberdeen. In 2006 they relocated to Brighton and met drummer and Exeter exile Tom Heron, where the line-up of THE XCERTS was finalised. After a barrage of dates with Future of the left, Bat for Lashes, Biff Clyro, Make Model, Cage the Elephant, Brakes, Get Cape.Wear Cape. Fly and  Fighting with Wire and recent supports with Enter Shikari and Feeder, THE XCERTS are gearing up for recording their debut full length album late summer with producer Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers / Idlewild)     .

They're a double edged sword of ferocious guitar and dainty, poetic words - a distorted pop band who fuse the influences of fellow countrymen Idlewild and Biffy Clyro with the thoughtful approach to songwriting of old school 'emo' bands like Jimmy Eat World and Bright Eyes. With support from Radio 1, XFM, MTV2, Rock Sound and !Kerrang, and a work ethic of epic proportions with a live show to match, these are exciting times for the Aberdeen / Exeter  and Brighton based trio.

“Nothing short of astonishing” -  !Kerrang
“Ludicrously Punchy” – Steve Lamacq
“The Xcerts are going to be making big strides in 2008” - Drowned in Sound

The Insight
The Insight are a four-piece Rock/indie band from all over the country (Luke - Sunderland, Mick - Watford, Nord - Stoke-on-Trent and Dan - Bedford). They met at Uni in Sept 2006 in Derby. They share a similar taste (Joy Division, Factory Records, Oasis etc etc) and are often being likened to bands such as The Smiths, Interpol, The Coral and The Libertines, the Insight have also been credited with having their ‘own’ fresh exciting sound. With their dance-influenced bass lines, intense and funky stop-start drum rhythms, charming chorus melodies and enthralling guitar work, the Insight fuse together all the best things about Indie/Rock music in the last 30 years.
