Gig Guide: Thu 10th Jul
Thu 10th Jul 19.30 The Dandilions / The Sons / The Souvenirs / The Roads
The Dandilions -
"The Dandilions are the latest of the wave of bands coming from what used to be known as “middle England”. We call it inspired - with the swagger and the style to match. It could be The Clash - circa 1977 or course - mixed by Lee Perry, sporting Ben Shermans. Or something like that. But not quite."
SOHO Strut Review
The Sons blend timeless guitar pop with a complex style of song-writing, to create a dark slice of summer with a seedy underbelly. Based in Derby and Nottingham, The Sons have gigged extensively around the country, providing many a memorable set of originals over the past few months at the likes of Water Rats, The Cavern Club, The Vic (supporting Nine Black Alps and Alfie) and The Social. They’ve also appeared on an NME tour, as house band at the You’re So Old Street club nights including playing alongside 10,000 Things and Do Me Bad Things and have also supported the likes of Ian Brown.
On first listen to The Souvenirs. You can hear the influences aplenty. The Smiths, The Kinks, The Who, Morrissey and a whole host of other acts. With catchy hooks, strong lyrics and solid rhythms, they have increased their fanbase in Derby in a short space of time, adding to it every live show. More and more people are waking up the sound of The Souvenirs.
The Roads - Simple, to the point and noisy to boot, its over before you've really taken it all in, which means you'll listen to it again
