Every fortnight Nottingham Trent University Glo Bar opens its doors to the best local indie/rock/alternative bands. This week features…
Death By Orchestra who formed in 2007. A six piece band that aims to blend styles to defy genres. With their debut EP in the pipeline for mid April they are booking in many new live dates to bring death by orchestra to the masses.
Overvibe was originally conceived as a studio project in 2006 by lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Si Aljewicz and in less than a year have evolved into one of the most talked about five piece bands in the area, attracting interest from Major and Independent labels, the band are lining up exclusive gigs in the UK for 2008 as well as putting the finishing touches to their debut EP with audio mixer & producer Simon Claridge with an initial release set for Spring 2008.
Polymath absorb their environment and reuse it to create new, unique and interesting music. Lyrics are torn from magazines, fresh and topical but timeless, provocative and personalised - an exercise in exorcism, flitting between painful, introverted intimacy and shameless decadence. Musically, Polymath fuse the organic and mechanic - the result is a brooding, twisted mix of soaring cellos, rumbling synths and irresistible melodies. Spontaneously clashing cultures, in one moment, gentle pianos are flayed by overdriven bass as voices whisper murder - in another, scattered guitars splice driving drums and searing vocals
Dom Keller are influenced by The Velvet Underground and Black Sabbath. Amidst the way out guitars and fuzzed out organ drones, vocal melodies begin to emerge and the sound evolving is a raw sonic collage; a collison of psychedelia and garage, or as one reviewer described: "the sound of Jesus and Mary Chain meets Black Sabbath" and "..a cosmic noise akin to The White stripes more whacked moments performed from Spaceman 3's hymn sheet". If you are looking for an escape into a new world, then Dom Keller might just be the ride you've been waiting for.

Tom Bennett
After the demise of his previous band Secondman, Derby University student, Tom has taken his music into his own hands, working with a few friends to help him reproduce the music he creates by himself in a live context. A blend of melodic and passionate song writing mixed with acoustic and electronic elements produces a unique yet pleasing style.
Lo-fi Lung
Eclectic mix of electro/acoustica. The diverse nature of both members influences and broad musical experience has culminated into what has been described as “a broadly ambient acoustic driven sound.” Their lyrics are founded on social/cultural themes, influenced by natural and environmental ideals.
"Julian Butt and Chris Harding are as original a duo as you will ever find, both phenomenal artists and performers in their own right, the combination they have found between them is incredible… Glockenspiel solos, insane percussion lines, accordion based songs, meditation chimes and the interesting addition of a spinning pink tube. Expect nothing less than an awe-inspiring performance from two multi-talented musicians" – Random Donkey Promotions
Mellow Rebellion
Mellow Rebellion formed back in December 06 after previous band Lucky Bullet split. To date, the band have played numerous gigs all across the midlands and are currently in the process of releasing their long awaited debut EP titled 'Mastermind'.
The Park Bench
Formed in 2005 when two homeless youths met at Derby YMCA. After writing several songs in room 306, they started with a few performances at various open mic nights. Now they are a five-piece and have recorded a new demo at Dubrek.
